Scott Kelly snaps a quick selfie during a spacewalk on December 21, 2015. Scott Kelly and fellow NASA astronaut Tim Kopra released brake handles on crew equipment carts on either side of the space stations mobile transporter rail car so it could be latched in place ahead of the docking of a Russian cargo resupply spacecraft. Kelly and Kopra also tackled several get-ahead tasks during their three hour, 16 minute spacewalk.

A Zinnia plant pillow floats through the U.S. Destiny Laboratory aboard the International Space Station. The zinnias are part of the flowering crop experiment that began on Nov. 16, 2015, when NASA astronaut Kjell Lindgren activated the Veggie system and its rooting "pillows" containing zinnia seeds. The challenging process of growing the zinnias provided an exceptional opportunity for scientists back on Earth to better understand how plants grow in microgravity, and for astronauts to practice doing what they’ll be tasked with on a deep space mission: autonomous gardening.
